1 - YEMEN - 21 Maggio 2012. Continuano senza sosta le ondate di violenza e gli attentati nel Paese della Penisola Araba. Almeno 96 militari sono morti e 300 sono stati feriti oggi a Sana'a, la capitale, in un attentato kamikaze che ha avuto come obiettivo i preparativi per la parata militare in programma martedì in occasione del 22esimo anniversario dell'unificazione del Paese. L'attentatore ha indossato un'uniforme militare per confondersi ai tanti uomini dell'esercito presenti sul posto per le esercitazioni, quando all'improvviso si è fatto esplodere causando la strage. L'attacco è stato rivendicato da Al Qaida.
YEMEN - May 21, 2012. the waves of violence and attacks continue in the country of the Arabian Peninsula. The bomber wore a military uniform to blend in to the many military men at the scene for the exercise, when suddenly blew himself up causing havoc. The attack was claimed by Al Qaeda.
2 - SIRIA - 22 Maggio 2012. Dodici pellegrini sciiti libanesi che stavano rientrando in patria dall'Iran attraverso la Siria sono stati rapiti oggi nella provincia di Aleppo dai ribelli dell'Esercito libero siriano (Els). Immediate le manifestazioni di protesta nei quartieri sciiti nel sud di Beirut, in particolare Bir al Abed, Shatila e al Msharraiyeh, nonostante l'Esercito libero siriano smentisca la cattura. Il leader del movimento sciita libanese Hezbollah, Seyed Hassan Nasrollah, ha comunque invitato i familiari di un gruppo di sciiti rapiti oggi in Siria dai ribelli a mantenere la calma e a mettere fine alle manifestazioni e al blocco di alcune strade, in modo da non complicare le trattative in corso per ottenere la liberazione dei rapiti.

Uno sciopero dei funzionari della metropolitana di San Paolo ha colto di sorpresa, in mattinata, gli abitanti della maggiore metropoli del Brasile e del Sudamerica, lasciando quasi 5 milioni di persone a piedi proprio mentre si preparavano ad andare a lavoro. L'agitazione è stata indetta per rivendicare aumenti salariali per l'intera categoria. Nell'intera area metropolitana si sono creati grandi ingorghi di auto, provocando code per un totale di 202 km.

Sono stati raggiunti degli accordi che prevedono la convivenza di due presidenti provvisori incaricati di garantire la transizione dopo il colpo di Stato del 22 marzo scorso operato dall'esercito. Il primo è Dioncounda Traorè mentre il secondo è il capitano Amadou Haya Sanogo, che ha guidato i militari che hanno rovesciato il presidente Amadou Toumani Tourè. I due leader dovranno collaborare per assicurare la pacificazione e la stabilizzazione del Paese per i prossimi 12 mesi, al termini dei quali dovranno essere indette elezioni democratiche per dar vita al nuovo corso del Paese centroafricano.
MALI - May 24, 2012. There have been reached agreements that provide for the coexistence of the two interim presidents in charge of ensuring the transition after the coup of March 22 operated by the army. Le truppe dell'Unione africana (UA) a supporto delle milizie del governo di transizione somalo hanno conquistato la città di Afgoye a circa 30 km a nord-ovest da Mogadiscio, una delle roccaforti dei ribelli al Shabaab, fondamentalisti legati al al Qaida che da tempo conducono azioni militari contro il governo centrale. Con la cattura di Afgoye si apre un corridoio di sicurezza che permette l'accesso di aiuti umanitari alla popolazione della capitale, altrimenti in difficoltà per l'impossibilità di far giungere rifornimenti.
SOMALIA - May 25th, 2012. Nelle prime elezioni svolte in Egitto nel dopo-Mubarak i dati ufficiosi danno come vittoriosi del primo turno e destinati al ballottaggio Mohamed Morsi dei Fratelli musulmani, dato come favorito, e l'ex premier del regime caduto lo scorso anno, Ahmad Shafiq. Proprio quest'ultimo ha dichiarato oggi di essersi impegnato con i giovani ed i movimenti degli attivisti a "restituire loro la rivoluzione e i suoi frutti che sono stati rubati". "Sarò all'altezza dei vostri sogni", ha assicurato, tuttavia il Movimento 6 aprile ha respinto le sue promesse affermando che il candidato conservatore è uomo che lotta per il ritorno.

7 - MAROCCO - 27 Maggio 2012. Decine di migliaia di persone sono scese in piazza a Casablanca, in Marocco, contro il governo per chiedere ''un miglioramento della situazione sociale''. Si tratta della più imponente manifestazione contro il governo formato a gennaio da Abdelilah Benkirane dopo le elezioni di novembre, in cui il suo Partito islamico moderato ha ottenuto una netta affermazione. La manifestazione è stata indetta dalla Confederazione democratica del Lavoro e la Federazione democratica del Lavoro.
MOROCCO - May 27, 2012. Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in Casablanca, Morocco, against the government ''to ask an improvement of the social situation''. This is the largest demonstration against the government formed in January by Abdelilah Benkirane after the November elections, in which his moderate Islamic party won a clear statement. The event was organized by the Democratic Confederation of Labour and the Democratic Federation of Labour.
